“I knew of Debbie through a friend, so I went to one of her seminars out of my interest in a holistic approach to nutrition and wellness. Immediately, I sensed her vast knowledge and sensible approach to the subject and decided to take a chance and meet her for a free consultation. I signed up for six more sessions, and it was one of the best life-changing investments I’ve ever made.
I had tried every weight loss diet and fitness program under the sun, only to succeed temporarily and bounce back to my starting point. I got to the point in my life, although already exercising regularly for years and eating what I thought was healthy, where I was going to have to count calories, Points, and carbs the rest of my life to maintain thinness.
What gives? Why am I eating throughout the day, but starving at night? Why am I so tired? Why can’t I lose this last 10 pounds despite 6-7 days of solid exercise per week?
Debbie’s challenge with me was to help me let go of the “dieter’s mentality.” I was petrified to eat fats and other things, which were high in the calories, but these were the things I always craved. She encouraged me to let go, and listen to my body. Listen to what I was hungry for (perhaps, sometimes not food). She armed me with tools to use as tests so I can learn about my cravings.
My energy level was noticeably better and more consistent after the first week or two into this new way of eating, with a few ups and downs as I learned about the foods and food combinations that worked or didn’t work for me. I no longer counted Points or calories. Then, a slow progress was seen on the scale. I was eating what my body craved and by Christmas the scale read 20 lbs. less than what it was in June. No diet. My body does not look drawn, as it did when I achieved this same weight on a “diet” a few years ago.
